In Loving Memory of Emily Paige McNabb

It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we ask for thoughts of love and prayers for our dear friends Susan and Adam McNabb. The McNabb's beautiful daughter Emily had SMA Type 1 and passed away yesterday at the age of 22 months. Emily and our daughter Emersyn were good friends & kindred spirits. Our hearts are broken for our dear friends as they bear the loss of their precious daughter. You only had to look into Emily’s big blue eyes to see how smart, brilliant and beautiful she is. Emily is an absolute ray of light and we know she and Emersyn are together running, jumping, laughing and playing in their new bodies that are free of SMA. Emily and Emersyn have many connections that have brought great comfort to us and we know Susan and Adam feel the same way. Sweet, beautiful Emily we miss you and love you more than you know and we are devastated that you had to go. May your spirit fly free and your love run into the hearts of your mommy, daddy and baby brother Aubrey now and forever.

We will always love and miss you beautiful Emily,
Love your friends always Melanie, Jason and Angel Emersyn xoxoxoxoxo

Remembering the Diagnosis....

One year ago yesterday on January 23rd 2009 our precious daughter Emersyn was diagnosed with SMA Type 1. Emersyn passed away three months later at the age of 7 months on April 7th 2009. One year ago yesterday.........is it coincidence that yesterday on January 23rd 2010 the GSF was awarded $100,000 towards SMA research? We don't think so, we don't believe in coincidence anymore. Emersyn has made very clear points of "coming through" to Jason and I and make no mistake she had everything to do with this big step in the SMA community. We hear you beautiful Emersyn loud and clear! You are wise beyond your years and anyone who knew you could see that in your deep eyes.

Miss you beyond words baby girl,
Love Mama and Daddy xoxo

2010

I do not know what 2010 has in store for us. Frankly I don't look at my life in years anymore, I don't presume to know anything beyond today. I can only look at what is in front of me today and hope for tomorrow but I cannot determine what an entire year willl look like. I can no longer say this was a good year and that one was not. In the past 15 months we have had our first beautiful child, lived in bliss with our "healthy" daughter until SMA came into our lives, watched as Emersyn rose above her illness and spread so much love and joy and finally we had to watch our 7 month old daughter pass away in our arms. I cannot presume to think that 2010 will bring good things , no one can. We can only know for sure what is in front of us in any given moment. Emersyn taught us that we cannot control yesterday or predict tomorrows plan or what an entire year will bring, we can only live and love in the here and now.
